The Stories We Were Telling All Along
Sometimes we can find the truth of the stories we were telling all along by looking back at things we have already written (done, made possible, said, passed on.)
Looking back at three years of writing at Confident Writing I notice truths I need to carry with me here, truths I was trying to tell myself to get me to here, to realise the power of story.
How writing opens things up and makes a different story possible. Helps us to find out who we are, and do it on purpose. Telling our selves stories that free us up, rather than close things down.
How blogs help us to tell our stories, to find the patterns and meaning that lie at the heart of the story.
Freeing our words and becoming fire-breathing writing dragons.
Infusing our stories with gratitude and wonder.
How to look, with eyes washed in wonder.
The importance of paying attention, including the details, the seemingly insignificant but essential.
Walking through life with mindfulness.
Working with more than one medium to let the story unfold: expressing what lies beneath with photographs, and art
Letting fairy stories tell our tales. Playing with metaphor and nonsense to allow the stories to unfold… and connect.
Trusting the power and beauty of the unconcsious mind.
Spending more time outside, and connecting to the source.
Making time for the story you really need to tell.
